Kielder Water Sailing Club has a talented set of RYA trained Instructors to provide Dinghy, Windsurfing, Powerboat and First Aid training to members.
The team is led by Principal Steve Gibbon who is also an RYA Coach/Assessor and Regional Club Coach as well as club Senior Instructor, Level 2 Race Coach and Powerboat Instructor.
Julie Gibbon is the Chief Dinghy Instructor and our course organiser and the first point of contact for most people seeking training.
In addition to Steve, Mike Scott, John Scullion, Nicky Coates, Jo Elliott, Helen Bainbridge and Chris Lawrence are also Powerboat Instructors.
We are lucky to have a fully qualified RYA First Aid Trainer in Darrell Jackson who delivers superbly interesting, informative and educational courses.
We have a number of Senior Instructors (Dinghy) at the club in Steve Gibbon, Julie Gibbon, Jo Elliott, Helen Bainbridge and James Brearley.
We have a number of Dinghy Instructors: Michelle Russell, Viola Scott, Vicky Fleming, Graham Thumwood, Adrian Langford, Chris Lawrence, James Nohl, Richard Longbone and Judy Scullion with several Assistant Instructors working towards full qualification.
Our Level 2 Race Coaching team comprises: Steve Gibbon, Viola Scott, Graham Thumwood, Chris Lawrence, Michael Scott and Adrian Langford. They deliver race coaching to our Dinghy Club youngsters and adults.
Our Windsurfing Instructors are Brian Coates, Helen Bainbridge, Jo Elliott, Gabby Littler, Ed Pike, Richard Longbone, Nick Pike, Don Ferguson, assisted by Geoff Smith.
We have 3 RYA qualified Race Officers at the CRO+ level of qualification in Steve Gibbon, Ernie Bennett and Peter Hawkin.
We are always looking for new volunteers to develop and encourage as Coaches and Instructors, so if you are interested please do not hesitate to contact one of the training team.
