This weekend the 26th and 27th November will see much activity at the club as we give the clubhouse, grounds and club boats a good clean up and recover the racing marks from around the lake.
All members are warmly encouraged to come and help out. You are welcome to arrive and leave at whatever time suits them. We have a list of jobs and many hands will make light work and a sociable time too! Feel free to bring any tools or equipment that you think might make things easier.
From 6pm on 26th November is our Social and Prizegiving
This will be a lovely event where we will enjoy a shared supper (birthday an even number bring savoury, odd bring sweet) and applaud those who have won races, improved their sailing and worked hard for the club.
The bar, of course, will be open and will be serving "Pagan Queen" a 4% ABV, blonde ale from the Firebrick Brewery owned by former member Alistair Lawrence (who never had time for sailing as he was always brewing beer). Do come and sample it!
For entertainment we are calling on our members to bring along their musical instruments and 'do a turn'. We know there is hidden talent out there with musicians and singers as well as sailors.
Some of us will be staying overnight so if you want to make a weekend of it you will be in good company.
10th and 11th December IOCA Winter Training for youngsters.
Dates already fixed for 2017 include:-
27 May to 3 June - Away Cruise to the Kyles of Bute
23 - 28 July - Summer Camp for youngsters
20 August - Team 15 Windsurfing Event at Kielder
Membership renewals are due on 1st January and payment is requested by 31st January. Having had no increase in fees for the last 4 years, it was agreed at the AGM that fees should be adjusted. Here are the new rates with the 2016 ones in brackets:-
Family/Joint £205 (£195)
Single £155 (£145)
Student £40 (£40)
Junior £30 (£30)
Country £105 (£75)
We hope you agree that this still provides excellent value for money for the facilities, opportunities and equipment the club provides.
The duty rota for 2017 will be compiled over the winter and it would be very much appreciated if members would let us know by email of their preferences of type of duty (galley, patrol, race office, maintenance jobs) and dates you either are or are not available. This makes the process a great deal easier and generally ensures that duties are undertaken. Volunteers for duties around bank holiday dates and open meetings are especially welcome as these are often the hardest to fill.
Keeping you informed
