We also now have a first page for a possible Young Sailors Site

At the half way point through the year it is important we feed back to you how the club is progressing and what your committee are doing on your behalf. You can find out more via this presentation. Depending on your browser and version this may not appear fully formated due to an issue in Word. An alternative powerpoint view can be seen here.
The plans for the Summer Camp are now online and application forms and further information can be found on the Summer Camp page.
The results for the AprilWindward/Leeward event and the Dam to Dam challenge appear here.

Coaching this year includes the formation of a KWSC Topper Squad. Read more about it and find an online application form here.
Details of the 2009 Training Programme are now available on the web site. The programme this year contains training for adults and juniors as usual. Training is available to club members only and application forms can be found on the training page.
The 2009 Season Programme is now available on the web site. The programme this year contains racing as usual, a continuation of cruising - including two away cruises, but has a much heavier emphasis on young sailors with specific races for our younger sailors and the introduction of junior coaching and a Kielder Youth Squad. This follows the training last year of six RYA Level 2 Race Coaches at KWSC. There are several dates on the programme which apply and you need to make note of these if you are interested in this level of coaching. I will be providing more information soon about how to apply to become part of the KWSC squad and what will be involved.
Not to be left behind we have also introduced Race Coaching days for all comers throughout the programme where everyone is welcome to come and learn something new and useful.
In addition we are hoping to organise a Summer Camp starting 17th August for 1 week, with a whole host of activities and fun for all ages but especially families. Again there will be more information on this later but you may wish to note the dates in the diary now.
Our new site is contunually under development and subject to improvement. Your views on how you want to see the KWSC website are important. Use the contact form to provide some feedback to me and I will see if I can incorporate any popular or useful suggestions.
Picture an inviting large freshwater lake set in a beautiful wide wooded valley. As you sail fish jump from the water, which lies between two dams seven miles apart, birds call from the trees and shooting stars fly across the black night sky. Nestling in the North Tyne Valley is the delight that is Kielder Water and of course, the Sailing Club.
Every Sunday March to December we have a very active and varied handicap racing programme. All are welcome -whatever the level of skill, experience or type of boat. Come and join in and have fun.
Can't sail or need to learn some new skills? We are an RYA Trainng Centre and run a full range of dinghy sailing courses from complete beginner onwards and also Powerboat course. Children and adults are welcome in our family friendly environment. You can find out more here and also read what previous course attendees think.

Don't want to race? No problem. Our lake is 7 miles long with side creeks to explore. Simply come for a potter or join one of our monthly organised cruises. See our cruising page for more information.
I intend three phases for the development of the site (what you are seeing now is Phase 1):
In Phase 2 of the site's development, if there is interest, I will add the ability to change the way you view this site. Here alternative designs will be available (with exactly the same infrmation) which allows you to look at the site in a way of your choosing (not mine). In addition I may provide the ability to change colour of text, backgrounds and change the fonts. This will be added later after the initial launch in March - if there is interest. The member's area will be added with a simple password access - obviously for club member's only. I have not decided what might be available here but it could include things like our constitutin and byelwas, committee meeting minutes etc What do you think?
In Phase 3 - well who knows what his may bring - any suggestions welcome.
You buy up to date gear, keep your boat in good repair and sail to the latest version of the racing rules. You should do exactly the same with your browser - keep it up to date. Older Browsers have bgs and may not take advantage of all the features of a modern web site. They are also slower. Take this opportunity to update your browser or even change to a better one!. The two most popular browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. You should be using Firefox Version 2 or Internet Explorer Version 7. The links will take you to the latest downloads. If you have not used Firefox before I recommend it - it is a fully standards compliant browser.
Well behaved dogs are welcome at Kielder.

Peace, tranquility, cosy club house, cruise, camp and the adrenalin of racing - the choices are yours.
... and in addition simply enjoy the local walks, mountain bike tracks, woodlands, rivers and fells.
