(Article from June 2005)
The club, following a case made by the Training Team, have invested in two additional club boats. We have bought two new RS Fevas. These are incredibly versatile modern hard wearing boats and can be sailed in three configurations:
Although primarily aimed at our enthusiastic teenagers or parent/child combination, as you can see these boats are incredibly versatile in configuration. We have only had them a few weeks now but they have been in use every day of the weekend bar one very windy unpleasant Saturday and are already proving popular.
These boats will be used in the new Stage 4 Young Sailor's course created this year by the RYA and allow us to offer all our Young Sailors the opportunity for exciting sailing beyond the basics of stage 3. We hope some of our young sailors (with or without a parent) will begin to utilise these in Sunday racing as they become used to sailing them.
The boats are available outside of any use in training courses by any club members. A small donation is asked for to cover insurance and maintenance and please fill in the log book near to the club phone if you use them so we can monitor their usage. Any damage or missing parts should be reported to the training team. All sails etc can be found in the shed at the back of the club house, please return these after use and ensure the shed is locked again. We hope you enjoy sailing these and if you need any advice - perhaps you have not rigged them or sailed an asymmetric before - then please do not hesitate to ask.
